2023 Roadwork Projects
CTH S – CTH OO to CTH H - October 2023
The Door County Highway Department will begin a road reconstruction project on CTH S, from CTH OO to CTH H. The project includes road pulverization, fine grading and compaction, along with placing 4” of compacted hot mix asphalt in two lifts, shouldering, and centerline striping.
Driveways and intersections will be marked and saw cut prior to October 9th. Pulverizing will begin on or around October 9th. Grading and compaction will take approximately 4 to 5 days to complete with paving also to take about 5 to 6 days to complete. After a short cure period the road will be shouldered and at some point, centerline striped.
The road will be closed to through traffic during the work day from approximately 5:30 am to 7:00 pm. A detour route will be used during this time using CTH J, CTH O and CTH H. Cars will then be able to turn north or south to continue to CTH S. Flaggers may be used when needed during the construction process. Every effort will be made to keep the road open for local traffic to businesses and homes.
The expected completion date, without the centerline striping, is November 3rd. As with any road construction project, the work is controlled by favorable weather. CTH H Roadwork – Stone Road to CTH O - October 2023
The Door County Highway Department will begin a road reconstruction project on CTH H, from Stone Road to CTH O. The project includes the marking and cutting of driveways and intersections, milling or removing existing roadway asphalt, fine grading and compaction where needed, placing 4” of compacted hot mix asphalt in two lifts, shouldering, and centerline striping.
The milling will begin on October 2nd. The marking of driveways and intersections may take place prior to October 2nd. The milling process will take 2 to 3 days, cutting and removing of driveways, where needed, may take 2 to 3 days, and the paving will take 4 to 5 days. After a brief cure period the road will be shouldered and centerline striped.
The road will be closed to through traffic during the work day, from approximately 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. Every effort will be made to keep the road open for local traffic to businesses and homes. Flaggers may be used when needed during the construction process. The road will be open to through traffic nightly.
The expected completion date, without the centerline striping, is October 20th. As with any road construction project, the work is controlled by favorable weather. CTH BB/Gordon Road at STH 42/57 Intersection Improvements - September 2023
The Door County Highway Department will be starting the “No Left Turn” improvements at the STH 42/57 & Gordon Road intersection. On Wednesday, September 13th, vehicles traveling east bound on Gordon Road will not be able to turn right onto STH 42/57. A detour will be in place directing traffic to Old Highway Road to Egg Harbor Road then to the Egg Harbor Road roundabout. Traffic will still be able to travel west bound on Gordon Road/CTH BB from Hwy 42/57.
There are several phases to this improvement so expect lane closures and detours at the intersection of STH 42/57 at Gordon Road/CTH BB Road over the next two to three weeks. Door Stop Amoco, Culvers, The Fireworks Store, and residences will be accessible at all times.

CTH MM Roadwork - Rock Farm Road to CTH C - September 2023
The Door County Highway Department will begin a road reconstruction project on CTH MM, from Rock Farm Road to CTH C. The project includes road pulverization, fine grading and compaction, along with placing 3 ½” of compacted hot mix asphalt in two lifts, shouldering, and centerline striping.
Driveways and intersections will be marked and saw cut on or around September 13th. Pulverizing will begin on or around September 15th. Grading and compaction will take approximately 3 to 4 days to complete with paving also taking about 3 to 4 days to complete. After a short cure period the road will be shouldered and at some point, centerline striped.
The road will be closed to through traffic during the work day from approximately 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. A detour route will be used during this time using Rock Farm Road to Idlewild Road. Cars would then be able to turn north to continue to CTH C or south and return to HWY 57. Flaggers may be used when needed during the construction process. Every effort will be made to keep the road open for local traffic to businesses and homes.

CTH WD Roadwork - STH 57 to West Shore Drive - August 2023
The Door County Highway Department will begin a road reconstruction project on CTH WD, from STH 57 to West Shore Drive. The project includes road pulverization, fine grading and compaction, along with placing 3 ½” of compacted hot mix asphalt in two lifts, shouldering, and centerline striping.
In preparation of the road work, on or around August 16th, driveways and intersections will be marked and cut. The pulverizing will begin on or around August 21st. The road will be open to traffic at all times. Grading and compaction will take approximately 5 to 6 days to complete. Paving will also take about 5 to 6 days to complete. No detour will be used for this project. Paving operations will require lane closures and flagmen will be used to control traffic. After a short cure period the road will be shouldered and at some point, centerline striped.

CTH A Roadwork - CTH A to STH 42 - July 2023
The Door County Highway Department will begin a road reconstruction project on CTH A, from CTH F to STH 42. The project includes road pulverization, fine grading and compaction, along with placing 3 ½” of compacted hot mix asphalt in two lifts, shouldering, and centerline striping.
The driveways and intersections will be saw cut starting on July 5, 2023.The pulverizing will begin on or around July 11, 2023. The road will be open to traffic at all times. Grading and compaction will take approximately 5 to 6 days to complete. Paving will also take about 5 to 6 days to complete. No detour will be used for this project. Paving operations will require lane closures and flagmen will be used to control traffic. After a short cure period, the road will be shouldered and at some point, centerline striped.

CTH Q Roadwork - North Bay Drive to Woodcrest Road - June/July 2023
This project will include sawing of asphalt /concrete driveways and removal of material, road wedging and placement of two lifts of asphalt. Shouldering and centerline striping will take place after the curing period is complete.
The sawing of the driveways and intersections will begin on Monday, June 26th. The road will be open to traffic at all times and driveways will be accessible. The paving operations will require lane closures and flagmen will be used to control traffic. Please note that an oil adhesive will be applied to the lane being paved so we ask that you adhere to flagmen and do not drive on the oiled surface. Paving will take approximately 5 to 6 days to complete. No detour will be used for this project. After a short cure period, the road will be shouldered and at some point, centerline striped.
The expected completion date, without striping, is July 21st. As with any road construction project, the work is controlled by favorable weather. Please use caution around road construction crews and equipment. Please slow down when traveling or find an alternate route when possible.
CTH C Roadwork - Fox Lane to Pickeral Road - May 2023
This project will include pulverizing the current pavement, culvert replacement, grading and prepping the road for resurfacing and installation of 3 1/2 inches of new hot mix asphalt which will require two lifts. Shouldering and centerline striping will take place after the curing period is complete.
Pulverizing will begin on or around May 3rd. The paving is expected to be completed around May 26th, weather permitting. The road will be open to traffic at all times, with some exception during culvert installation when portions of the road will be closed for short periods of time. Paving operations will require lane closures and flagmen will be used as necessary to control traffic.
Please use caution around road construction crews and equipment. Due to the nature of the project, you will experience loose gravel and dusty conditions. Please slow down when traveling or find an alternate route when possible.
