2025 County Highway Road Projects
CTH S - CTH H to Wilson Road
The Door County Highway Department will begin a resurfacing project on CTH S, from CTH H to Wilson Road. The project will consist of, milling and removal of existing asphalt, excavation at Tagge Road intersection, grading and compaction, placement of two lifts of asphalt, shouldering, and centerline markings will complete the project.
Milling of the existing asphalt and intersection excavation will begin the week of October 6, 2025. The paving of two lifts of asphalt will begin the week of October 13, 2025. There will be an adhesive applied between the two lifts of asphalt so we ask that you adhere to signage and avoid driving on the oiled surface. The paving will take approximately two weeks to complete. The road will then be shouldered after a short cure period, and centerline striped. The expected completion date, without the centerline striping, is November 7, 2025
Every effort will be made to keep access open to traffic as much as possible throughout the construction project. Traffic will be controlled by a flagging operation during construction.

CTH BB - CTH B to Peterson Road and CTH HH - CTH BB to Sturgeon Bay City Limits
The Door County Highway Department will begin a road reconstruction project on County Road HH, from County Road BB to Sturgeon Bay city limits. Also, CTH BB, from CTH B to Peterson Road. The project includes both sections of roads to be milled. A portion of CTH BB will need excavation and rebasing. The roads will then be repaved, shouldered, and center line striped.
The roads, driveways, and intersections, will be milled starting the week of September 8, 2025. Road preparation and excavation will also happen that same week. Paving will begin the week of September 15, 2025.
The road will be temporarily closed in segments during the milling and excavation process. Every effort will be made to keep residents driveways open as much as possible. Paving operations may require lane closures. Flagmen will be used to control traffic. An oil adhesive will be applied between the two lifts of asphalt so we ask that you adhere to flagman and avoid driving on the oil surface. After a short cure period, the road will be shouldered and at some point, centerline striped.

CTH K - CTH C to CTH DK
The Door County Highway Department has begun a road reconstruction project on County Road K, from County Road C to County Road DK in the Town of Gardner. The project includes a portion of the road to be pulverized, culvert installation and patches, wedging and overlaying the entire road, centerline striping, and shouldering.
The driveway, intersection and road prep work should be completed by August 21st. Paving will begin the week of August 25th and is expected to take 5 – 6 working days to complete.
Paving operations may require lane closures. Flagmen will be used to control traffic. An oil adhesive will be applied between the two lifts of asphalt so we ask that you adhere to flagman and avoid driving on the oil surface. The road is expected to be shouldered the week of September 15th after a short cure period with centerline striping taking place after this.

CTH I - STH 42 to CTH T
The Door County Highway Department will begin a resurfacing project on CTH I from STH 42 to the CTH T. Sawing of asphalt and concrete driveways, removal of material, road pulverization, grading and compaction, placement of two lifts of asphalt, shouldering, and centerline markings will complete the project.
Sawing of the driveways and intersections will begin the week of May 12, 2025. Road pulverizing and driveway removal will begin the week of May 19, 2025. Road preparation, grading and compaction, will begin the week of May 26, 2025. The paving of two lifts of asphalt will begin the week of June 1, 2025. There will be an adhesive applied between the two lifts of asphalt so we ask that you adhere to signage and avoid driving on the oiled surface. The paving will take approximately two weeks to complete. The road will then be shouldered after a short cure period, and centerline striped. The expected completion date, without the centerline striping, is June 30, 2025.
The road will be closed during working hours, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. Every effort will be made to keep access open to local traffic as much as possible throughout the construction project. The road will be opened nightly. The local detour route for day time travel will be Townline Road, from STH 42 to CTH T.

CTH EE - CTH A to CTH F
The Door County Highway Department will begin a road reconstruction project on CTH EE, from CTH A to CTH F. The project includes road pulverization, fine grading and compaction, along with placing 4” of compacted hot mix asphalt in two lifts, shouldering, and centerline striping.
The driveways and intersections will be saw cut starting the week April 21, 2025. The pulverizing will begin mid to late that same week. The road will be open to local traffic at all times. A detour route will be set up using CTH F to CTH A from the north end and CTH A to CTH F from the south end. Grading and compaction will take approximately 5 to 6 days to complete. Paving will start the week of May 5, 2025. An oil adhesive will be applied between the two lifts of asphalt so we ask that you avoid driving on the oil surface. After a short cure period, the road will be shouldered and at some point, centerline striped.
The expected completion date, without the centerline striping, is June 20, 2025. As with any road construction project, the work is controlled by favorable weather and other contractual obligations during this period. We apologize for any inconvenience that may occur.
