STH 42 Culvert Replacement
Our department has received notice that WisDOT will be replacing two existing deteriorated concrete box culverts under STH 42. One culvert is located .78 miles south of the CTH J intersection and the other culvert is located .55 miles north of the CTH J intersection. Weather permitting, the work is anticipated to begin on Monday, October 6, 2025 and be completed in early/mid November 2025.
STH 42 will be closed and detoured in the vicinity of the work during construction. The STH 42 detour will follow County Line Road, Old Krueger Road, CTH O and CTH H (see map below).
Access to properties will be maintained at all times.
Once work begins, weekly progress updates for the culvert replacement project on STH 42 (and for other WisDOT projects in the Northeast Region) can be tracked at the following WisDOT website:

STH 57 - Intersection Improvements at CTH H, Stone Road and Cloverleaf Road
Beginning Monday, April 28, 2025The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a safety improvement project at the three WIS 57 intersections at the
following locations:
- WIS 57 and CTH H intersection is in the town of Brussels.
- WIS 57 and Stone Road intersection is in the town of Nasewaupee.
- WIS 57 and Cloverleaf Road intersection is in the town of Nasewaupee.
This is a WisDOT Project - all construction related questions and concerns should be directed to the dedicated Project Construction Leader:

PROJECT OVERVIEW / PURPOSE
There is a history of right-angle crashes at these intersections. This work is intended to improve safety at the intersections while maintaining acceptable traffic operations at each intersection. Due to the severity and number of crashes, this project qualified for federal Highway Safety Improvement Program funding.
WisDOT will construct Reduced Conflict U-Turns (RCUTs) at existing WIS 57 intersections with County H and Stone Road. The RCUT intersection reduces the number and type of conflict points and simplifies decision-making, while still allowing all turning movements to be made at the intersection. By eliminating the minor road crossing movement, the RCUT intersections are expected to decrease right-angle collisions and the severity of crashes at the intersection.
PROJECT IMPROVEMENTS
- Reconstructing the County H and Stone Road intersections with RCUTs including slotted right and left turn lanes added at each WIS 57 approach and U-Turns added along each WIS 57 approach to replace the minor road crossing movement.
- Reconstructing the Cloverleaf Road intersection to consist of right-in and right-out and left-in movements.
Intersection improvements will remove left turns and crossing maneuvers from Cloverleaf Road.
- Curb and gutter including median islands
- Culvert and storm sewer modifications, lighting and pavement markings
SCHEDULE
Work is expected to begin April 28, 2025, and finish before the 2025 Labor Day weekend.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS
WIS 57 will remain open to a minimum of one through travel lane in each direction at all times.
During holidays and peak weekend traffic periods, all WIS 57 through travel lanes will remain open.
The south leg of the Cloverleaf Road intersection will remain open to local traffic at all times.
County H, Stone Road, and the north leg of Cloverleaf Road will be closed while those intersections are reconstructed.
STH 57 Resurfacing Project - Baileys Harbor
(Baileys Harbor) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region reminds motorists that construction begins Monday, April 7, 2025, to improve 1.5 miles of WIS 57 from approximately 200’ north of the Summit Road intersection to approximately 200’ north of the south intersection with County Q in the town of Baileys Harbor, Door County, Wisconsin.
WIS 57 will remain open during construction. The $2.24 million project is expected to finish by noon on July 3, 2025, but some remaining work might be completed after Labor Day 2025. No work will take place during the summer tourist season.
This project has a dedicated construction project leader. Please contact the construction leader for any construction-related questions:

TRAFFIC IMPACTS
WIS 57 will remain open to traffic throughout construction, but it may be reduced to a single lane via standard flagging operations. Park Road will be closed at the WIS 57 intersection while work in that area is completed. Local and emergency access will be always provided to properties in the work zone.
PROJECT IMPROVEMENTS
This is a resurface-level project. Improvements will include milling the existing asphaltic surface and overlaying with new hot mix asphaltic pavement, replacing four cross drains, upgrading sidewalk curb ramps to meet current standards, upgrading guardrail at Frogtown Road, and placing new pavement markings.
PROJECT BENEFITS
The new asphaltic pavement surface will improve pavement structure longevity, ride smoothness, and safety of this highway segment. Guardrail upgrades at Frogtown Road will improve safety for any errant vehicles that might leave the roadway. Upgrading of curb ramps to ADA standards will improve sidewalk accessibility for disabled pedestrians. Replacement of various culvert pipes will improve highway drainage.
Special information of interest needed by the public concerning this project
The contractor has submitted a proposed schedule that will attempt to accelerate work such that it will be completed prior to summer break. All construction activities must cease after noon on July 3, 2025. However, based on weather and other potential unforeseen delays, it is possible that some work could remain to be completed after Labor Day 2025 when the summer work restriction is lifted. We ask that the vehicular traffic please pay attention to the traffic control, flagging operations, and signage, and to drive slowly and carefully through the construction zone.
Relyco Plus, LLC of De Pere, Wis. is the Prime Contractor.
