Cana Island located in Baileys Harbor, is famous for its original 1869 lighthouse. Visitors can reach the island via a connecting causeway when the water levels are low or a wagon when levels are higher. The 89-foot tall Cana Island Lighthouse provides magnificent views of Lake Michigan from the top. The surrounding area offers beautiful landscapes, including rocky shores and wooded trails, making it a great spot for birdwatching and photography.
There is a camera on the mainland that looks across the causeway and takes photos every 20 minutes during visiting hours. These photos can be helpful in determining if visitors are interested in walking across the causeway or if they would like to take the wagon.
